Why Should I Use Open Cell Foam Insulation?
Many homeowners are turning to open cell foam insulation to reduce the cost of heating and cooling their homes. One of the best reasons for doing so is of course that it provides a superior form of insulation for your home. However, unlike most types of foam insulation, open cell foam is far more environmentally friendly as approximately 20% of it is made from fully renewable agricultural products such as corn or sugar cane.
While its name, open cell foam insulation, might lead you to think otherwise, this foam is far denser than your average insulation and as such will make a much bigger difference on your utility bill. This type of insulation is applied by spraying onto the surface to be insulated, as such it covers everything in a water, mold and mildew proof layer of foam instead of a layer of stapled on fiberglass batting. It is a great way to keep your house warm and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.
