Spray foam insulation is quickly gaining popularity for many reasons. Among the green movement, spray foam is recognized as one of the best ways to save energy. Among the financially savvy, it’s recognized as one of the best ways to save money on your energy bill, month after month. Whatever the cause, there is no wrong reason to upgrade your home’s outdated insulation.

If you are looking for ways to save money, weatherizing your home is the first thing to consider. The Department of Energy estimates that proper weatherization will produce average savings of about $958 dollars a year in energy costs. The average American family wastes about 30-40% of the money they spend on heating and cooling. Typically, that’s more than $50 dollars a month.

Spray foam insulation offers a much higher resistance to temperature change than classic insulation methods. It also creates a much higher quality seal, as it expands and fills spots that things like fiberglass simply cannot.

Homes with spray foam insulation applied don’t need to run the air conditioner as long to get the house to the desired temperature. Additionally, once the ideal temperature is reached, the home’s air conditioner will run less to maintain that temperature.

Spray foam keeps unwanted moisture out of homes as well. Excessive moisture leads to high humidity, which can cause temperature increases. These factors make spray foam the optimum choice for insulating your home.

If saving money doesn’t put the money in your pockets as fast as you would like, there are other state and federal incentives to consider. Homes in Louisiana that achieve a 30% or higher efficiency improvement qualify for the HERO program, which offers $2,000 just for weatherizing your home. The Energy Smart Program has many potential rebates for people who weatherize their homes in Louisiana as well. There are also several federal programs that offer as much as 10% of costs spent on weatherizing your home to come back to you. If an energy audit is done by Star Spray Foam Systems before the spray foam is applied, they will even take care of the paperwork for these programs for you.

Have you ever considered going green? Many companies have opted to go green for the incentives from the federal government. These incentives all boil down to one simple bonus: money. The government doesn’t only offer money to businesses for going green, however. There are several programs in place to reimburse you for money spent on weatherizing your home. The federal government isn’t the only body of power to offer money back either. State and local governments also offer incentives for going green in your own home.

Spray foam insulation is installed in a process that does not harm the environment. When applied, spray foam expands rapidly and creates a powerful seal that is unmatched by conventional insulation methods. With such a strong seal, cool air is kept inside longer, meaning that your air conditioner will run less often. Most homes stand to increase efficiency in this fashion by 30%-40%. Such a large increase in efficiency can slash your energy bills, sometimes by half or more.

An energy audit by Star Spray Foam Systems will tell you what areas of your home are losing the most air and how to improve those areas. How much you stand to increase efficiency, and even an estimate of how much you may be able to save each month on your energy bill, are also included in the summary. These numbers are accurate depictions made by professionals in the field of building science. In Louisiana, with this audit, and installation of the spray foam, most homes qualify for a local bonus of $2,000 through the HERO program, in addition to the state and federal programs. Star Spray Foam Systems will even handle all of the paperwork for your rebates.

According to the Department of Energy, the average savings per year from weatherizing your home are almost $1,000. With $1,000 saved per year, $2,000 more from HERO, and a few variable amounts back from the federal government, your bank account will start to look a little greener as well. So if you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, or just save a lot of money every month, spray foam insulation is the best first step.

If you are one of the 60 million Americans who suffer with allergies, then you know how miserable this beautiful weather can be. What’s even worse than having outdoor allergies is having them follow you indoors as well. People suffering from allergies get less sleep on average, and get less actual rest when they are sleeping. When you are not well rested, it becomes more difficult for your body to fight off allergies. This is a vicious cycle.

Outdoor irritants sneaking in through poorly insulated homes cause much of this discomfort. Old insulation techniques leave many small gaps, leading to drafty rooms, dust or pollen infiltration, pest or insect infestations, and unwanted condensation. All of the aforementioned problems can cause the air to become less sanitary overall. Pollen and dust can make it hard to breathe. Infestations and mold will make you sick, just from breathing in the tainted air around them. To top it all off, outdated insulation techniques lead to much higher energy bills.

Spray foam insulation is the solution to all of these problems. When applied, spray foam expands rapidly, and fills almost all the small cracks and crevices traditional insulating techniques simply can’t. This expansion creates a barrier, which keeps almost all outdoor irritants from entering your home. At the same time, cool air is kept in longer. Moisture is not able to seep in through this seal and create still water, which can lead to mold or breeding grounds for vermin and insects. Additionally, spray foam helps to keep rodents and bugs at bay by denying them easy access to your home. With no point of entry or water to sustain them, infestations are easily prevented.

With spray foam insulation installed, you can be confident that every breath of air you take in is cleaner. Saving up to 50% or more on your energy bill will give you as much peace of mind as knowing your home is not being overrun by disease-carrying mice, mosquitoes, and other pests. Breathe deeply and comfortably, thanks to spray foam insulation.

In reality, most homes built in the past ten years, and even homes under construction now, are using outdated insulation methods. If you think your home is above the standard of efficiency, then try an energy audit from Star Spray Foam Systems.

An energy audit will provide you with lots of valuable data. Weak points in ductwork can be pinpointed. Poorly insulated walls and ceilings can be identified. Cracks or holes in the home can be located. Unseen mold and mildew, which can cause serious health problems, can be found as well. All of these issues and more can be easily identified by advanced, professional methods such as depressurization and infrared cameras.

After audits are completed, a summary is made that depicts how much money may be saved monthly with proper insulation. These summaries are accurate findings by professionals certified in building science, not just inflated numbers to influence a purchase.

If you decide to use spray foam insulation in your home, after it is installed, a second energy audit is completed. This will quantify the results of the process in front of your own eyes, before you get your next energy bill. Most people see an average savings of 40-50% a month in their energy bills. Some people will even see a drop as large as 60%.

Spray foam insulation also creates a strong barrier, which helps to keep unwanted pests out. With this protection against infestation, you will not have to pay for expensive exterminator visits. This barrier also protects your home from moisture, which can lead to mold and mildew, and more costly cleanups.

The Department of Energy has found that the average homeowner wastes as much as 40% of the money they spend on heating and cooling because of poor insulation techniques. Those are numbers from a federal agency dedicated to the efficient use of energy. Would it be better to have an energy audit and know for sure your home is efficient, or just chance it, and risk throwing away a lot of money each month? The answer is clear, put your home to the test.

Itchy, burning eyes, sneezing, runny nose, and shortness of breath can impair many facets of our daily lives. If you are tired of having your outdoor allergies follow you inside, then it is time to consider having spray foam insulation applied in your home. Enjoy the air you’re in, and sleep better in a home with fewer irritants.

Spray foam insulation expands as it is applied, giving it an advantage over other kinds of insulation. As the foam expands, it creates a tight seal. Thanks to this expansion process, the spray foam is able to get into small cracks and crevices that are not easily covered by traditional insulations, like fiberglass.

The seal created by spray foam insulation blocks unrestricted airflow. Without this free flow of air, pollen, dust, and other debris will not be able to find their way into your home. This creates an environment that is cleaner. People with allergies will especially notice an immediate difference in the air quality when spray foam has been applied.

With airflow restricted to the places inside your home that need them, no cool air is wasted. This means that your air conditioner will run less and keep your home as cool as you want it to be. Because of this, homes that upgrade to spray foam insulation save lots of money on energy costs. Many people see a drop in their energy bill by as much as 50% or more.

Mold is another problem starter. It can cause airborne illness in anyone. Mold is commonly caused by excess moisture sitting in one area for prolonged periods of time. With spray foam insulation, moisture will not collect inside your home.

Vermin and insect infestations create unhealthy air as well. Much the same as mold, roaches can pollute your air and even spread disease. Homes with spray foam insulation are much harder for pests to enter. Additionally, with no still water accumulating in unseen areas of you home, rodents and bugs will have no way of getting water. With no water source, and no nutritional value from the insulation, pests have no reason to nest in your home.

As it turns out, weatherizing your home with spray foam insulation is one the best ways to keep your home, and your bank account, green. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the average American home wastes about 30-40% of the money they spend on heating and cooling.

By insulating your home with spray foam, you can reduce cooling or heating costs by as much as 50-60%. The DOE says the average American stands to save about $958 a year with proper insulation installed, or about $80 a month. When spray foam insulation is applied, unwanted condensation is kept at bay. This means no mold or mildew to clean up. Infestations from rodents and insects will be warded off as well, potentially saving many people from a costly exterminator visit, or visits, which is usually the case. Spray foam insulation will also give your home higher quality air, which leads to a healthier atmosphere.

Homes with spray foam insulation also use far less energy than homes with conventional, outdated insulation. Many homes tend to lose efficiency from uncontrolled air leaks, insufficient insulation, and deteriorating ductwork. Typically, existing homes with spray foam insulation installed save close to 40% more energy than before the foam was put in. If you’re looking to reduce the impact you are making on the environment, this is the best place to start.

If saving money doesn’t tickle your fancy, how does making money sound? In Louisiana, there are programs in place, such as HERO, which reward people for weatherizing their homes. There are also national programs that offer similar incentives in the form of tax credits. With an energy audit from Star Spray Foam Systems, they can tell you how much circulation is being wasted in your home, how they will fix it, and how much you stand to save each month. Better still, they will file the paperwork for local, state, and federal rebates for you. This all translates to more money in your pockets.

From hybrid cars that run on electricity as a primary fuel source to treadmills and bikes that store energy as you use them, to spray foam insulation cutting back energy consumption drastically, everywhere you look, someone is doing something green.

There is no right or wrong way to go green, as long as you keep in mind the three R’s; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. However, there are certainly some green ideas that seem to be head and shoulders above the rest. Spray foam insulation falls into this category. By installing spray foam in your home, you bring down the amount of waste produced from heating and cooling your residence by as much as 40%. You will also see the amount of money you spend on bills fall by as much as 50-60%. Talk about reducing!

When applied, spray foam insulation expands and fills crevices conventional insulation methods simply can’t. This creates a tighter seal, and allows for less air to escape through small cracks. Additionally, spray foam provides a higher rate of temperature change resistance than classic methods such as fiberglass. Basically what this means is that your air conditioner can run less, and actually keep your house cooler than a home with outdated insulation.

Spray foam insulation reduces your energy consumption in one major way, but has many other useful qualities to it as well. With spray foam installed in your home, you also protect your house from unwanted moisture in the air. This excess of water can damage your home in a few ways; by giving mold or mildew a place to thrive, by attracting insects and vermin, or by warping and rotting wood. The seal from spray foam also makes it much harder for insects and vermin to gain entry to your home. With no easy way in, and no water to sustain life, infestations are nearly non-existent.

If you want to go green, and truly reduce the impact you and your family are making on the environment, there is no better place to start than with spray foam insulation.

Insulating your home with spray foam insulation does more than save you lots of money. It is also one of the most green things you can do to keep your local ecosystem in rhythm. Bugs love to crawl into peoples’ homes for safe shelter and food. In doing so, these bugs reduce the amount of food available to their natural predators, such as mice, birds, and fish. With less food available, these creatures inadvertently reduce the amount of food available to predators, such as wild cats, birds of prey, and alligators. The chain doesn’t end there, but you see the idea.

By insulating your home with spray foam, you create a barrier that helps to keep bugs and vermin outside. When applied, the foam expands to roughly ten times its original size. This means spray foam can fill the many small cracks and holes that conventional insulation simply cannot cover. By filling these holes with foam, most insects and vermin are unable to enter your home. Instead, they remain outside, where they naturally belong.

If you are looking for a way to save money in your home, spray foam one of the ways to go. Families who have applied spray foam insulation typically see their energy bill drop 30-50%. Compared to classic insulation methods, such as fiberglass, foam insulation offers much higher temperature resistance. This means a home insulated with spray foam will hold the same amount of cool air for a much longer period of time.

Spray foam insulation drastically cuts back the amount of energy your house needs to use in order to keep cool. By using less energy, you reduce the impact local electric companies have on the environment as well. With the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010 still threatening to pollute the waters attached to the gulf, it is important to take action in such a way that we have more resources to use during such major crises. Whether you are doing it for the water, the plants, or the wildlife, weatherizing your home is a huge step in making sure the bayou stays healthy.

This virus is most commonly transported by insects that rely on blood for food; namely mosquitoes. Most homes lose a lot of cool air through tiny cracks and holes in various parts of the heating or air conditioning systems, as well as in their attics and basements. These crevices make for easy access points to your home for insects and spiders. Spray foam insulation can help keep you and your loved ones safe in your own home by creating a high quality seal inside your house.

Spray foam insulation is applied in a simple process. As the foam is sprayed, it expands to roughly 10 times its original size. As the foam comes into contact with cracks and crevices, the expansion allows for a complete seal. With such a seal in place, mosquitoes will not be able to penetrate the defenses of your home. The seal also prevents accumulation of unwanted moisture inside your home. This condensation can lead to still water, which makes perfect breeding conditions for mosquitoes and other pests.

Outdated insulation provides little to no resistance when it comes to keeping out mice and rodents. Spray foam’s stability provides a stronger barrier against larger pests. With no nutritional value, spray foam insulation offers no incentive to these vermin. Some traditional insulation methods can actually serve as meals for rodents, practically inviting them in to your home.

By sealing your home with spray foam, you also create a powerful shield against outdoor irritants such as pollen and dust. So while you are keeping out pests that harbor filth and disease, you are also providing your home with a much cleaner environment for your lungs and respiratory system.

Spray foam insulation does more than keep bad stuff out. When applied properly, spray foam will save you a lot of money on your energy bill as well, by keeping the cool air in during the summer. In the winter months, warm air is retained longer. Having a home that is properly insulated can reduce your electric bill by as much as 60%. In the end, this investment will protect your health, your home, and your wallet.
