Energy-saving “Green Deal” Creates Jobs for Spray Foam Contractors
Posted by Spray Foam Insulation Comments Off Jan 19, 2012 @ 03:01The insulation is a rapidly growing industry not only in the U.S. but also in the U.K. and other parts of the world. The Green Deal, which was part of the Annual Energy Statement to Parliament, will bring in around £14 billion worth of investment from the private sector and create jobs in the British construction and spray foam insulation contractor industry.
In an effort to respond to climate change and the energy crisis, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Chris Huhne presented a statement to the British parliament that seeks to provide households with energy auditing treatment at a defrayed.
Part of Green Deal’s vision is to equip homes not only with proper insulation technology but also slash its energy consumption and utility bills. Huhne calls the policy “revolutionary” as it will keep households efficient and more comfortable especially during cold seasons.
The British economy can also benefit from the projected multi-billion investment. Huhne has emphatically stated that homeowners also need to be insulated from the rising fossil fuel cost in the world market.
Once the Green Deal is passed, homes and business establishments will be treated with energy auditing and insulation systems such as spray foam at no upfront cost. Home and business owners can then pay for the services overtime through savings they made after installation.
Energy companies will be asked to provide £1.3 billion a year to guarantee that everyone, no matter of income, will benefit from the policy. Homes that are harder to insulate will also receive subsidy.
The Green Deal is projected to support around 65,000 construction and insulation jobs by 2015. The British government is already committed to implementing of the policy by 2012 and will provide incentives to attract business and homes. Green Deal is a poised to attract opportunity for large and small-scale businesses and boost the ailing economy. According to Secretary Huhne, consumers are the ones getting the most of the deal with the amount of money and energy they will save per year.
Scotland has also pushed a similar policy that brought home energy audit services to thousands of households.
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon stated that the government is aiming for a low-carbon Scotland with lesser utility bills, helping to achieve the country’s climate change reforms.
Households will be assessed and offered free energy auditing services to determine an insulation system. Homes already with insulation system in place but does not pass government standards will be likewise given free energy audits.
Most homes need a proper insulation system, such as the energy-saving spray foam, to protect from moisture and airborne noise traveling from roofs and walls.
The amount of heat lost in homes that are not properly insulated racks up the heating and air-conditioning bills. Uninsulated establishments lose a third of its heat through the wall, while a quarter is lost through the roof.
Spray foam insulation is a cost-efficient and greener alternative to most insulation treatments such as fiberglass. This treatment protects homes from moisture and mildew and help control temperature. Because of its huge energy-saving potential, governments in the U.S. and U.K. have supported industries such as spray foam insulation contractors.
